Windows 10 App on Surface Pro - green screen with logo - nothing more


The pressreader windows 10 'Microsoft app store version' on my fully up to date windows 10 install on this surface pro 4 stopped working a few days ago.

It has been working for many months on this little tablet type computer without any problem.

It's nothing to do with disk space.

I had pressreader set up to only keep subscription downloads for 16 days max before deleting them.

I did reset the app, made no difference.

Then I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it - made no difference.

I get a green screen with a the white 'P' pressreader logo - it just sits there from this point.

I made no windows updates at the point where it stopped working. They were done more than a week before this problem started and I was using it after applying the latest update a few weeks back so I can't think of any reason for this to happen.

 Please advise, I've been a continuous subscriber of yours for well over 10 years and this is the first issue I've had.

I really don't want to have to go back to the ipad with its little screen :)

My Surface Pro has exactly the same problem.  I haven't uninstalled and reinstalled yet because I wish to avoid the deletion of several magazines I have kept for reference purposes and will probably be unable to download again. 

I note that Pressreader does not appear in the Taskmanager as an active app while it is in this state.

Please advise me of the solution.
