How can I resolve the "Too many activations" error message?

I got a new iPad and when I sign into press reader it says "too many activations". It would only be on 3 others then this one

Hi Kathy,
Thanks for your post. The exact number will depend on your subscription type, but you can have several authorized devices on your account at a time. To remove any older devices from your account, follow these steps:

  1. Login to www.PressReader.com
  2. Click on your name at the top right and select "Manage Account"
  3. Scroll down the page to the last section called "PressReader Installations"
  4. Click to "Manage" older devices and select "Deauthorize" for any that you no longer use.

That's it! If you deauthorize any device accidentally, you'll just need to sign in once more when you open PressReader.

I hope this helps! - Kathy, PressReader Care

Good afternoon, I am having a similar issue with regard to the New York Post account that I have authorized through pressreader. Although I have older devices that I am not longer using, I also get the "too many activations" error message when I attempt to activate my NY Post v.4 or New York Post e-edition subscription for viewing through pressreader. Is there a way to reset my account and delete all old devices so that I can activate the New York post on my new ipad? I have had the subscription for over 3 years, so it is understandable that old devices may have been erroneously accumulating as extra activations. I am not sure how to go about doing this. The above instructions do not work for the issue that I am having.

Hello Robert,

Your particular account has a subscription that allows you to authorize a maximum of 5 devices and computers. You can view and manage the devices that are authorized on your account by following the steps below:

Please visit our main site (using a desktop computer or laptop): http://nypost.newspaperdirect.com and sign into your account.

In the toolbar select My Services > Manage account (top right hand corner)

A new page will appear, from the left hand menu select PressReader.

You will now be able to view the devices authorized on your account. Simply click on Deauthorize next to any device you would like to unlink.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind Regards,
Benny

Hi

I just installed the PressReader App on my Windows 10 Phone.

Although I have authorized only 2 accounts till date, it keeps giving me the error message: "Too many activations".

Can you please help me ?

Thanks!

There is no "PressReader Installations" section at the bottom of Manage Account.

Hi Kathy

It appears that you may have reached the maximum number of device authorizations. Most possibly by de-authorizing one of the devices that you do not use any more, you can authorize the new device. Please write to care@pressreader.com including your email address on the account, so that we can review this further and assist.

There is no section called "PressReader Installations."  Any other suggestions?

Hello James,

We have gone ahead and deactivated the expired devices and made room for new authorizations. In the future, please use this email alias to get further assistance: care@pressreader.com

I have read and tried this, while I can get into "Press Reader Installations" it appears to give me the ability to only activate 1 device at a time, is this true?

I thought we could have up to 5 at a time.

it also say I have an Ipod touch activated, and it only works on my Surface tablet.

I am so confused

Hi Paul,

Yes you can activate one device at a time. The exact number of devices supported by your account will depend on your subscription type.

You're welcome to direct your future questions to Care@pressreader.com for quicker response.
