Screen brightness issue in Android app

The PressReader app dims the screen when opened, and I can't find where to increase the brightness. This is fine at night, but I cannot see anything with a lot of glare during the day. Any tips?

I have the same problem on my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. As soon as I open the Pressreader app the screen dims. If I try to increase system screen brightness my device refuses saying that brightness is being controlled by the running app. Changing app reading theme makes no difference. It is far too dark for comfortable reading! Hope you can fix it.

I am seeing the same problem on the new Google Slate, app is very dim. App version is 6.6.230614. Android 13 security update June 5 2023. I do not see the problem on my Pixel 7 Pro which is running the same OS version, security update and app version.

For me it's the opposite. I'm on Android 12. I have night light on and screen dimmed but when I open press reader it always goes to full brightness which is not what I want. Any ideas how to fix this? - Should mention that I only upgrade to Android 12 and freshly installed Press Reader in last few days. So possibly you 'fixed' the above issue by making sure it goes full brightness but now it overwrites the 'night light' and system brightness by increasing it everytime Pressreader is active? Just a guess...

I have the opposite- when I open the app the screen goes so bright I can't read it at night as it hurts my eyes! I'm on a pixel 7 pro running Android 13. Once I exit the app, the screen goes back to the brightness setting the system is set to.

I too am now having the opposite issue since updating pressreader two days ago. Full brightness all the time, no means of reducing it. Why does pressreader need to adjust brightness at all? At least make it an option.

Android 7.1.1 Lenovo tablet.

I have the same problem on my Lenovo Tab M10 FHD Plus on Android 10. It's bright for a moment, then dims.
