Blue Highlights on Articles

We've made changes to the blue highlights and menu system on PressReader. Clicking on a highlight will link you with a text version of the article, which has a number of additional features. You can more readily change the fonts, access translations, and collect rich snippets for research and sharing.

Here's a quick update on the changes, and how to navigate them as you read.

Your highlight settings

The highlights will be displayed as your default view. They are distinguished from other links by their size. The entire headline will appear on a pale blue background.

To turn the blue highlights off, open the Settings page from the main menu, and select "Reading" from the left column. Here you'll be able to toggle "Disable Full Screen" and "Show highlights in full screen" to the off position. This will remove the blue highlights from the page when you are reading the papers in the replica mode.

Turning the highlights off and on

To test out your settings, make the changes above and then open a paper. Tap lightly on text that isn't highlighted to remove the top and bottom menus. The paper will now be displayed without highlights.

The menus and highlights are now tied together. If you swipe to turn the pages of the paper, they will not be shown. If you pinch to zoom or swipe down to read the longer pages, they will stay off.

When you want to call the menu and highlights back to your display, just tap on the screen.
